In this 30-hour online course you will learn how to tailor your yoga teaching through the sublime healing system of Ayurveda, the sister-science to Yoga. Drawing its wisdom from thousands of years of practice, Ayurveda looks to the five elements (ether, air, fire, water, and space) as a foundation for experiencing balance both in the natural world and within our beings. The doshas (vata, pitta, and kapha), comprised of varying degrees of the five elements, are the 3 bodily humors that make up one’s mind/body constitution. In this certification course you will learn traditional Hatha Yoga practices such as pranayamas and asanas that are geared toward increasing or decreasing the 5 elements and in turn the 3 doshas.
In this certification course you will learn:
* Hatha Yoga asanas to increase or decrease the 5 elements and in turn balance each of the 3 doshas.
* pranayamas to increase/decrease the 5 elements and the 3 doshas.
* mantras and kirtan to balance each dosha
* meditation for each dosha
* how to design a yoga practice that fits your body's or a student's needs
* how to choose a yoga practice for the time of year and phase of life
Learn how to choose a yoga practice that fits your individual body’s needs or that of a student’s, as well as the time of year and place in life. For example, some days certain body/mind types need grounding, warming, relaxing flows, while others benefit more from precise, mental focus, and cooling routines and still others are best served by invigorating, uplifting, dynamic sequences. We explore them all and participants have teaching practice assignments to learn how to make a yoga practice truly therapeutic for the body, mind, and spirit!
This course certifies yoga teachers (who have already completed a 200-hour YTT) to lead Ayurvedic-inspired yoga classes in both group and individualized settings and is also open to experienced yoga practitioners who would like to explore this field of study. Please note that this training incorporates Ayurvedic wisdom through doshic-specific asana, pranayama, meditation, and chanting, and is not an Ayurvedic dietary course. Upon completion of the course graduates will receive a certificate of completion and can register the hours with Yoga Alliance for 30 CEs.
-
The course includes 4 modules, each of which include 3-4 videos with approximately 4-6 hours of recorded content in each module.
There are also short homework assignments, through which the participant can reflect on the recordings and the instructor(s) can observe the participant’s understanding of the material. These assignments are required only if one wishes to obtain Yoga Alliance CEs for the course.
Questions about course content may be submitted to the instructor at the end of the course and the instructor will send feedback and responses to the homework and any questions posed.
Participants have 1 year from the time they register for the course to complete material if a certificate and Yoga Alliance CEs are desired.
Participants have on-going access to the recordings.
Please note that this course is not a “group online course,” and is entirely self-paced.
