Balance your body and mind during the incredible transition of pregnancy with yoga postures and breathing practices to relax, open and ground your body and mind. Experience the support of a group of other mothers-to-be as you learn gentle ways to strengthen your body for birth.  Prenatal yoga can reduce nausea, low back pain and swelling in the joints. The practice of yoga also tunes you in to your growing baby and the changes happening within. This nurturing class is open to all stages of pregnancy. No prior yoga experience necessary.

Level: Open to all pregnant women. No prior yoga experience necessary.

Cost: $70 for a 6-week session if pre-registered. $14/drop-in.

Nurturing Bliss: Yin Yoga & Yoga Nidra

The ancient Yogic sages were great observers of nature. They taught of how activity is always accompanied by rest, day with night, hard and soft. In the modern lifestyle "yang" energy, or activity, is over emphasized. The overabundance of yang draws us out of the natural cycle and puts stress on an individual. Do you feel too busy at times (or much of the time), or turning on a never-ending wheel? The practices of Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra offer an invitation to step back into the natural rhythm and experience the pace of being human again.

Yin Yoga is a complementary yoga practice to the more "yang" (dynamic and invigorating) approaches to yoga that are seen most comonly in the west today. The practice of Yin Yoga is comprised mainly of floor postures, held passively for several minutes which work on the deep layers of connective tissue in the body. Yin Yoga is excellent for supporting the natural mobility of the joints. On a pranic (energetic level) Yin Yoga opens the body's meridian system, which encourages a smooth flow of energy and supports emotional equilibrium. Yin Yoga draws on principle of Chinese 5-element theory and students can expect to hear about various meridians they are working in each class.

Through the Yin practice stillness and silence are encouraged and provide a fertile ground for the Yoga Nidra that will conclude each class. Yoga Nidra is a guided deep relaxation meditation that students receive lying down. It is a systematic method of inducing deep physical, mental and emotional relaxation. Yoga Nidra is an excellent practice for reducing stress, healing physical/mental/emotional imbalances and restoring one's natural balance.

Yoga of the Five Elements | Check back soon for upcoming dates.

Come reclaim the intelligent wisdom inherent in your body through knowledge of the five elements (of Ayurveda/Yoga).  We invite you to cultivate the still ground of the mind through ancient yogic technologies that offer one the ability to reset, relax and rejuvenate the body.  Classes will include asana (steady postures) to cultivate the earth element, pranayama (breathing exercises) invoking the cooling attributes of the water element, mantra (sacred chanting) to ignite the fire element, dharana (meditation) to work with the air element within and Yoga Nidra (conscious relaxation) to explore the element of space.  Suitable for all levels.

Private Yoga

An ideal way to delve deeper into your yoga practice through one-on-one instruction. Perfect for beginners looking to cultivate a more thorough understanding of alignment and the technical aspects of poses and breathing and a wonderful opportunity for intermediate practitioners to fine-tune a practice and discover how to personalize one's approach to yoga. Meet with one of our experienced teachers to work on specific poses, work with physical issues through yoga, or to develop a personalized home practice routine. Yoga teachers are also welcome to schedule privates with our teacher training staff to work on specific aspects of teaching including meditation, pranayama, corrections and assists, contraindications, etc., but not limited to these. Also a great opportunity for pregnant women to develop a personalized practice to suit the body's changing needs. Out-calls available if you just want to practice in the peace of your own home!
